Lumae at War: A Fan-Made Fire Emblem Campaign Built Over Years

Fire Emblem: Code of the Black Knights is an original campaign built on Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones by Mycahel. It was posted on the FE Universe forum on 15 January 2020 after more than a year of work and has been updated since.

At a glance

  • Based on: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (GBA)
  • Created by: Mycahel
  • Released: January 2020 on the FE Universe forum
  • Genre: Tactical RPG
  • What sets it apart: A 30-chapter original story with branching routes and a mostly original soundtrack

The setting

The story takes place on the continent of Lumae, which the god of creation Naga raised from the sea 213 years before the game starts. Its isolation has recently ended, and four nations rule it through mystical runes. The heroes Schwarze and Noir investigate why the allied nation of Zoyla sent mercenaries against them, a question that could ignite a world war.

What stands out

  • About 45 playable maps across 30 chapters, with over 41 playable characters not counting bonus units
  • 10 endings and a route split that ends in four finales
  • Revamped magic inspired by the older games' anima triangle, a STR/MAG skill split and custom classes
  • A custom world map, an in-game glossary and optional side chapters with a different party
  • An S-rank system that rewards objectives like turn limits or survival
  • Choices that affect the story, with permadeath that changes events depending on who lives; the author recommends not resetting on a death
