Towers II: Plight of the Stargazer is a fanmade reproduction cartridge of a fully completed but unreleased Game Boy Color game.
This is a finished prototype of the cancelled Game Boy Color version of Towers II: Plight of the Stargazer, which had been planned for release in October 2000. Originally developed in 1995 by JVGames, a Nevada-based studio founded by Vince Valenti and Jag Jaeger, the American-style RPG first appeared on the Atari Jaguar before being revived in late 2000 for the Game Boy Color by publishers Telegames and Vatical Entertainment.
According to Valenti, the GBC version took roughly six months to complete, well beyond the estimated three months, as the team added and improved features over the original Jaguar release, including approximately 6 minutes of vocal conversations, a brand new FMV intro for the title screen, a co-op mode, a larger view screen, and around 15 levels to delve through. A late update also allowed it to run properly on the GBA in compatibility mode.
The game was completely finished, playtested, ESRB-rated, and ready for manufacturing before it was cancelled when Vatical Entertainment ran into financial difficulties and could not secure distribution, leaving it shelved.
