Samurai Kid is an action platformer for the Game Boy Color. Developed by Biox (Factory Panic, Phantasy Star Adventure, Ristar on Game Gear, Daiku no Gen-san: Kachikachi no Tonkachi ga Kachi) and published by Koei in 2001 exclusively in Japan, it blends platforming with puzzle elements and is considered one of the finest handheld games never released in the West. Story: The land has been attacked by a Demon King, and it falls to the Samurai Kid to set things right. Gameplay: Responsive controls, smooth animations and large sprites drive this puzzle-platformer. You wield three weapons, each with its own ability, and must use them to solve puzzles and progress through each stage. A pumpkin water jug turns enemies into movable blocks (and can defeat some foes); the Masamune katana is the only weapon able to kill any enemy and break blocks; and the "Loco Mia" fan lures enemies out of their fixed areas so they follow you across the level. A special charge attack is also available. Each level introduces unique challenges and elements, with Koban coins and hidden hearts scattered throughout, some reachable only with an upgraded weapon. Samurai Kid is a spiritual sequel to Daiku no Gen-san: Kachikachi no Tonkachi ga Kachi. This is an English fan-translation of the original Japanese game, letting you finally enjoy this classic on your Game Boy.
