Resident Evil Prototype - Game Boy Color A piece of video game history few collectors can own: a physical edition of the cancelled Game Boy Color port of the PlayStation survival-horror classic. Originally developed by HotGen Studios for Capcom and slated for release around 1999-2000, the project was scrapped by Capcom, who claimed the Game Boy Color hardware couldn't deliver a satisfying experience. In 2012, two prototype builds were leaked to the public. This cartridge contains the more advanced build, patched to fix major bugs so the game can be played all the way through to the final room (roughly 99% of the full experience). Story: A faithful adaptation of the first Resident Evil. Play as S.T.A.R.S. members Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as they investigate the mystery surrounding the zombie-infested mansion. Gameplay: Includes all the areas and rooms from the original PS1 game, with items, enemies, and puzzles faithfully adapted to the Game Boy Color. The save system has been improved so no Ink Ribbons are required. This bug-fixed version restores access to Plant 42, corrects the lab collision bug, and fixes the helipad door. The game ends in the final room, as in the original prototype. This is a fan-completed reproduction of a leaked, never-officially-released Capcom prototype. The game is in English.
