Pokémon Edición Team Rocket: Play the Story of Red and Blue as a Rocket Recruit
Pokémon Edición Team Rocket is a Spanish-language hack by Dragonsden that flips the classic Kanto adventure around: you are not the champion-in-the-making but a new recruit of Team Rocket. The author's own pitch is to experience what happens behind the scenes of Red and Blue, from the villains' side, while keeping the canon story intact and leaving room for a few surprises.
At a glance
- Created by: Dragonsden
- Language: Spanish
- Status: completed; the author's page lists the full release as version 2.1
- Regions: Kanto, the Sevii Islands, Johto and Hoenn
- Length: around 110 hours across the whole game, according to the author
- What sets it apart: you rise through the Rocket ranks and your appearance changes as you do
How the adventure starts
You begin as an ordinary grunt at the Team Rocket headquarters on Isla Inta, in the Sevii Islands, and have to complete the missions your superiors assign you. The story runs on the same timeline as the start of Red and Blue's journey. At a certain point you are transferred to Kanto, where you witness the original events from a Rocket's point of view.
What the author promises
- A huge world, with new maps in regions the original games never showed, and more than 1,500 trainers
- A rank system inside Team Rocket that rewards completed missions
- Roughly 700 catchable Pokémon, including creatures from the Gold and Silver '97 beta treated as canon
- Demanding battles: important trainers use competitive-level teams, with a medium-high difficulty
- More than 25 optional events and side missions, plus custom music for most key fights
