Overstorm: A Game Boy Advance Platformer Shown Once in 2003 and Released as an Alpha in 2014

Overstorm is a side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy Advance that never got beyond an alpha build made to be shown at the 2003 Games Convention. For roughly eleven years it stayed out of public hands, until the developer, by then renamed Quantized Bit, handed the alpha out in 2014 alongside a sale of its newer game Volt: Battery on the Loose on IndieGameStand.

At a glance

  • Created by: Polyzoom Media, later renamed Quantized Bit
  • Build date: 2003 (alpha shown at Games Convention 2003)
  • Surfaced: 2014
  • Genre: side-scrolling action platformer
  • What sets it apart: five playable levels, plus leftover unused levels in the data

Under the hood

The preservation notes at The Cutting Room Floor reveal an earlier working title, Unseen, with its own title screen. There are also several levels that are not reachable in the normal flow, with names that are Polish words: Dolinka (valley), Kolejka (minecart), Baza Podziemia (underground base) and Wierza (tower).
