Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators is the unreleased Game Boy port of Virgin Interactive's 1992 platformer, loosely based on the McDonald's fast-food brand and carrying a strong environmentalist message. The original game was created by David Perry's team (later Shiny Entertainment) on the same engine that powered Cool Spot and Disney's Aladdin. While versions reached the Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System, Game Gear and Amiga, the Game Boy port, fully developed by Damian Stones of Climax, was cancelled before release for legal reasons, much like the unfinished SNES version. Story: Guided by Ronald McDonald, the heroes Mick and Mack set out on an environmental clean-up quest through a polluted world. Gameplay: A single-player action platformer across four worlds, Slime World, Mystical Forest, Toxi-town and Arctic World, each split into sub-stages where you collect a set number of Golden Arches to advance. The characters are armed with a Super Soaker-style gun that fires gooey projectiles at enemies. This is a reproduction cartridge of the unseen prototype, playable in English.
