Medarot (メダロット), known in the West as Medabots, is the first game in the Medabots video game series, originally released for the Nintendo Game Boy on November 28, 1997 in Kabuto and Kuwagata versions. This is a fan-translated reproduction built from the original ROM with an English translation patch, since the game was never released outside Japan. This listing includes both an English and a Spanish playable ROM version.
Story: The game follows Hikaru Agata, a boy in his early teens with no interest in Medabots. One day, while walking his dog Bonaparte in the park, the dog scares off a member of the Roborobo Gang who drops a Medal in the process. Hikaru picks up the Medal, but when he tries to turn it in at the local Select office he is told he can keep it. He receives a Tinpet and a set of Parts from his father, which become his first Medabot. Over the course of the game, Hikaru fights numerous members of the Roborobo Gang causing trouble around town, while the gang resorts to increasingly underhanded and dramatic plots to force the Medal back from him.
Towards the end, the secret origins of Hikaru's Medal are revealed and a mysterious alien race is introduced. Hikaru uncovers that the leader of the Roborobo Gang is also the head of the Select group, confronts and exposes him at the tournament, and ultimately faces an ultimate Medabot bent on global destruction in the final battle. After the climactic confrontation the Select building collapses, the rogue leader is taken away by police, and Hikaru learns that only he and a few others will ever know what truly transpired.
Gameplay: A role-playing game with turn-based battles in which you collect Medals and Parts to build and customize your own Medabots.
