Superman: Battle for Metropolis is an unreleased Game Boy Color action game, offered here as a fanmade reproduction cartridge since it was never officially released.
Developed by Neon Studios and slated to be published by Infogrames, the game was cancelled after failing to impress the Superman license holder. Regulations imposed on the character prevented the developers from making the game they originally envisioned, so this prototype build (dated January 12, 2001) was created as a compromise to meet the licensor's demands.
This is the surviving prototype, so a few features remain incomplete: the OPTIONS and CREDITS entries shown on the main screen are inaccessible, the PASSWORD screen has no functionality, and pressing START during play advances directly to the next level.
